Salatan Energy plans to develop 17 winds farms with a total capacity of 152 MW in southern Thailand, primarily in Songhkla province. The wind farms will use Gamesa G114 2.0 MW wind turbines.
Salatan Energy has reserved a 20-year, 50 MW and received the letter of acceptant to get Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and 17 individual 6-MW PPA’s from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA).
The combination of a consistent, predictable wind resource in southern Thailand and Gamesa Corporation Technological (Gamesa) G114 wind turbines, that are optimized for the types of winds found in southern Thailand, means that a 76 2.0-MW wind turbines can reliably produce 293 GWh of electricity per year, which EGAT and PEA will purchase at 69.7 million USD per year.
